一首詩，就能讓整個人安靜下來。
在什麼都在趕速度的現代，《從前慢》成了所有人回不去的烏托邦，成了一代人追不回的夢。
這首詩歌的作者叫木心。
木心（1927—2011），本名孫璞，筆名木心。中國當代作家、畫家，出生於浙江烏鎮。自1982年起，長居美國紐約，從事美術及文學創作。
真正將木心帶到內地讀者面前的，是畫家陳丹青。陳丹青是木心的學生。1982年，陳丹青在紐約求學，在地鐵上因為朋友介紹而認識木心。
1989年，木心在紐約開設“世界文學史”課程，陳丹青聽了五年，記了厚厚的五六本筆記。
陳丹青覺得木心的作品好，要介紹給國人，並將這個想法付諸了實施。
木心的文字，在網上能搜到的、翻譯成英文的似乎只有《從前慢》這首詩。
因為驚豔於他寫下的一些文字，Flora選擇了其中14個句子翻譯成了英文。
